Important information about our prices

Dear coffee lovers,

The rising coffee prices are currently on everyone’s lips.
As early as November 2024, the Handelsblatt newspaper ran the headline: "Is coffee becoming a luxury item?" Since then,
Purchase prices for green coffee increased by over 30% compared to February
The price has more than doubled in 2024. Unfortunately, this applies to both
Arabica and Robusta coffee varieties.

Even we, as a small roastery, face the challenge of managing these massive cost increases. We were able to partially offset this through internal measures, such as closing our retail store. Nevertheless, we still have to adjust our selling prices.

Why are coffee prices rising so sharply?

“I never laugh before I’ve had my coffee.”

Clark Gable (1901 – 1960)

Climate change & crop failures – Extreme weather, droughts, and changing climatic conditions are leading to declining crop yields worldwide – a trend that is expected to continue.

Rising energy and transport costs – Prices for fuel, freight and logistics are rising
continuously, which makes the import of green coffee more expensive.

Global demand, global trade & currency effects: Countries such as China, India and Vietnam are discovering coffee for themselves, while the world market price (traded in US dollars) is rising further due to currency fluctuations.

Fair trade & sustainable cultivation: We continue to focus on sustainable supply chains and fair payment for coffee farmers, even if this means higher purchase prices.

How can we enjoy coffee despite rising prices?

“Coffee is the black oil that keeps this fantastic machine running.”

Honoré de Balzac (1799 - 1850)

Even if coffee becomes more expensive, there are ways to continue to experience conscious enjoyment:

Quality over quantity – Less is better: Instead of relying on cheap, mass-produced coffees, choosing high-quality specialty coffees can enhance your enjoyment. Carefully roasted beans develop more flavor and offer a more intense taste experience.

Leverage better preparation – With the right preparation, you get more out of each bean. The optimal grind, water temperature, and brewing method make a big difference – making every cup more valuable.

Supporting sustainable production – Those who consciously choose sustainable and fairly traded coffee contribute to ensuring that high-quality beans will continue to be available in the future and that coffee farmers are fairly compensated.

Coffee: A daily companion with special value

For many of us, coffee is far more than just a beverage—it's a moment of calm, a way to start the day, or a break from everyday life. It accompanies conversations, inspires, and connects people. Perhaps it's time to stop taking coffee for granted and start enjoying it with more attention and appreciation. Because despite rising prices, one thing remains unchanged:

The love of a really good cup of coffee.

We thank you for your understanding and support, and promise to continue our passion for the best coffee experience!
